On this day, Jesus celebrated Hanukkah: “And it was at Jerusalem the feast of the dedication, and it was winter. And Jesus walked in the temple in Solomon’s porch.”
Originally, the Syrian leader Antiochus had destroyed the temple. “Antiochus desecrated the temple in Jerusalem by sacrificing pigs on its altar and smearing the temple in blood.” However, the Syrian forces could not standup against the Hasmonean. The family became known as the Maccabees – the Hammer.
