Stars And Stripes / The Betsy Ross Flag

Stars And Stripes / The Betsy Ross Flag

LYRICS
Everybody bleeds in red
Everybody ends up dead
Nobody’s born a dread
Now it’s time to use our head
Now it’s time to lift our head

Thirteen stars on a field of blue
What on earth has become of you
Red blood spilled upon the white
All in the name of what is right

Chorus

Came to understand ‘not just your land
It’s meant for me and you
Leaving our footprints on everything we do
Gonna command a human ban/band

Chorus

Country ’tis of thee what’s become of thee
Hypocrisy sweet land of liberty
From sea to murky sea
What’s become of being free?

Chorus

ABOUT THE SONG
A song about symbolism and the flag of the United States of America, also known as “Stars And Stripes” and “the Betsy Ross Flag”. The stars on the blue field replaced the Grand Union design that was based on the British Union Jack flag.

The thirteen stripes represent the thirteen British colonies that declared independence from the Kingdom of Great Britain and became the first states in the United States: Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Georgia, Connecticut, Massachusetts Bay, Maryland, South Carolina, New Hampshire, Virginia, New York, North Carolina, and Rhode Island and Providence Plantations. Legend attributes the red on white as symbolism for blood on white bandages.
