LYRICS
Good ‘ole Saint Nick
Up his sleeve, he’s got a trick
He’ll make those reindeer fly
Taking toys high in the sky
Good Saint Nick
Overcoming adversity
To try n’ make everyone happy
Good Saint Nick
Good ‘ole Saint Nick
Here’s the trick
If all year long, we just kept a lil’ good ‘ole Saint Nick
As our secret trick
As our back-up plan
To show a human
Humanity
Yeah, let’s see if we can show humanity someone being humane
If any remain?
Good Saint Nick
Keep a little in your heart
That a good place to start
Good Saint Nick
Keep a little in your heart
Maybe we’ll start

LYRICS
[knock, knock]
I swore I heard a knock at the door
When I went to explore
I found they were no more
There was no body
Nobody was there
It was the strangest thing
I heard the doorbell ring
Thought maybe it was some carolers coming to sing
The strangest thing
When I answered the door
They were no more
There was no body there
Nobody
[knock, knock]
Who is it?
Up on the rooftop
Most baffling
Hearing the strangest thing
Like 8 little reindeer hoof
When I say little… they weren’t really that little… but compared to the roof
8 reindeer hoofs… 8 x 4… maybe even more
If ya count the one rednosed one
So I arose
Trying to be on my toes
I suppose…
Out of curiosity
I had to see
If there was anybody there
Some body
Somebody
Coming down the chimney
I had to see
’cause I’d heard
It was a tradition
And, I was just itching
To find out if this tradition was just fiction
Or, if there was just a sliver of truth
Because if it could be true for me
Maybe it could be true for you, too
So I had to see what this clutter was… this clutter of clatter
If it ’twas the spirit of Christmas
Is that no body somebody
Hard to put my finger on it
This Christmas spirit
But, I tell ya I hear it
Up on the rooftop
Yes, I suppose when I arose
I just had to look in the right place
If I wanted to see the Christmas spirit’s face
It was right in front of me the whole time
And, here I am searching high and low
At least now I know

A song about the downtrodden and our hope, faith and charity.
The first time I recorded a version of God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, I was just learning what the song meant. The time was right after 9/11. As I started to look into the song, I found it was an Old English Carol about the downtrodden. Then, a new mate from England wrote me and said:
Merry in the Old English of this carol did not mean “Happy” it meant “Mighty” or “Powerful” (Think Robin Hood’s Merry Men – They weren’t happy because they were wearing tights… you know… they were a powerful fighting unit) The word “Rest” in the Old English also meant to invest a property in… or in other words to “make”.
So the first line of the carol in modern English would be “God Make You Mighty Gentlemen” Similarly the term “Merry Christmas” means have a “Powerful” Christmas. Kind of gives the phrase a whole new meaning doesn’t it?
Since then, I started to learn about the song “House of the Rising Son”. It turns out this, also, may be an Old English Traditional song (that USA blues guys adapted.) Coincidentally, it is also a song about the downtrodden. Both songs are about redemption… faith, hope and charity.
The video is a combination of man’s sins with God’s glory fading in and out.

LYRICS
Have you been a good little girl or boy?
Now you want Santa to bring you a toy
Have you been good the whole year through
Or, I’ll have bad news
Coal in the stocking blues
I heard people talking
They said it’s shocking
Jaw dropping
Eye popping
Been good the whole year through… well, have you?
Or, I’ll have bad news
Coal in the stocking blues
Strum they told me
Stru, stru, stru, stru, strum
A new born king has come
Stru, stru, stru, stru, strum
Break that guitar out of your gunny sack
And give that axe a whack

LYRICS
Oh! No!
Wouldn’t you know
There’s no snow
Christmas cheer’s on holiday this year
No cheer near here
Christmas cheer’s on holiday this year
No cheer near hear
Christmas cheer on holiday
Wouldn’t you say?
The leaves fell down
Still no snow on the ground
None to be found
Christmas cheer’s on holiday this year
No cheer near here
Christmas cheer’s on holiday this year
No cheer near hear
Christmas cheer on holiday
Wouldn’t you say?
Advent did begin
December moves in
Still it’s not snowin’
Chorus
Hard to believe
Approaching Christmas Eve
Pray “at least a dusting, please”
Chorus

LYRICS
Will it suffice to sacrifice your life
If you know immortality for all eternity
Will it suffice to sacrifice your life
If you just go on to sin and sin again
Are you suppose to resolve all man’s sins
What are you believing
You’ve got to won up to your sin
What are you believing
You can’t run from your sin
If your end never ends
How can you begin to live up to all your sin
You’ve got to take responsibility
Can’t you see
You can’t depend on someone else’s immortality
You’re a sight to see

Q: What do you want to be when you grow up?
A: When I grow up I want to be an elf.
[the Earthlings sing]
When I grow up I want to be an elf
Not all wrapped up in myself
Not all tied-up in myself
Rather make a toy for every girl and boy
I’d rather bring that Christmas Joy, enjoy
When I grow up
When I grow up, I want to be an elf
Not that stooge for the Scrooge
Not the snitch for the Grinch
When I grow up
When I grow up, I want to be an elf
What do you want to be when you grow up
Do you want to be something? Stand up
What do you want to be when you grow up
Something stand up or throw-up
A toy for every girl and boy
Or hurl for every boy and girl
What do you want to be when you grow up?

Inspired by Hermey the Elf in Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.
Head Elf: Hermey! Aren’t you finished painting that yet? There’s a pile-up a mile wide behind you! What’s eatin’ ya, boy?
Hermey: Not happy with my work, I guess.
Head Elf: What?
Hermey: [sadly] I just don’t like to make toys.
Head Elf: Oh, well, if that’s all… What? You don’t like to make toys?
Hermey: [sadly again] Nnno.
Head Elf: [to the other elves] Hermey doesn’t like to make toys!
Elves: [whispering to each other, then chorusing to Hermey] Hermey doesn’t like to make toys. Shame on him!
Head Elf: Do you mind telling me what you do want to do?
Hermey: Well, sir, someday, I’d like to be a… a dentist.
Head Elf: A – dentist?

Luke 2:14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
LYRICS
Trying to find a piece of peace on Earth
Going to behold the old at The Birth
Less control over soul
More will to wield freewill
Radiating a kind of kind love, my Love
Feeling it in our spirit, endear it
May the goodwill instill
Less control over soul
Get out of control with your gift of giving
Head out of the sand embrace the living
Less control over soul
More will to wield freewill
May the goodwill instill
Less control over soul
Luke:
13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying:
14 “Glory to God in the highest,
And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!”
Heavenly Bodies
LYRICS
On my back I lie
Gazing into the sky
Heard something absurd
Try to figure out why
Angels on high
Bring a tear to the eye
Angels on high
Make me cry…
Tears of joy
Enjoy and deploy
Rejoice in tears of happiness
To my feet I rise
An eager eye prise
Once I realize
The scope of surprise
(The hope in surprise)
To my knee I fall
Bowed head and all
Humbled by the Spirit
Pray tell… can you hear it?
